T Lopez – Breathe featuring Lil’ Wayne

31 May

(I swear there’s a download link for a free song at the bottom of this post)

I’m about a month behind on this one.  (Had some technical issues with the bolg, and I’m just getting caught up).  Anyways… T Lopez:  I first met her when she was with Soluna, and I was on the street team at Hot 92.3 (Shout out to the Hot Squad, and thanks to Ronnie Jr for this nine year old picture!!)

Then… When I started working in television, for SiTV, and I edited this show called The Drop.  T Lopez ended up becoming one of the hosts:

Now I work on this show called LatiNation. When we were looking for a new host, T’s name came up, and of course she had my vote!

So pretty much, she’s like family now. Our careers have crossed paths several times close to the last decade.

OK… enough back story… The point of this is to tell you about her new record. She’s been signed with Cash Money Records for a little while, and I’m happy to finally see something coming out. Its a pop record, you can dance to it, her vocals are on point, and there’s a guest spot from Lil Wayne. That’s pretty much the certified radio stamp of approval right there. Download it!!! Pass it on!! If you’re a DJ.. then play it. If you’re a listener… request it!!! Just click below to download it.

Raphael Saadiq @ The House of Blues

Monday night I was helping out my friend Ronnie Jr. with an interview.  We shot an interview with Raphael Saadiq for a website that he works for.  The site is LosAngelesIAM.com.  Check out the site in the next day or two for the interview.  Our interview was scheduled for 6, and we didn’t get in there to interview him til after 10.  All part of the game I guess.  I’ve been a Raphael Saadiq fan since Tony Toni Tone’s first album, so it was pretty cool to meet the guy and shake his hand.

On a cool note, that we didn’t expect.  The tour manager felt bad that we waited around so long, so she gave us her personal pair of tickets.  Now I’m not one to waste free tickets, so Ronnie and I brought the gear back to my truck, then went back to check out a bit of the show.

I can’t believe I forgot about how great a performer that guy is!!  We got in right on his second song, and stuck around for the whole old school medley then left after that.  Cause let’s be real.. Ronnie is good company.. but watching a Raphael Saadiq show without my girlfriend is pretty lame… But, like I said… I did stick around for the medley, where he took it back to the early 90′s with “Just Me & You”, “It Never Rains”, “Lay Your Head on My Pillow”, “Anniversary”, “Ask of You”, and a few more.  If you’re reading this post looking for old joints like that….. sorry.. you’ll have to check back another time.  For now… you need to check out his new album “The Way I See It”.  He takes it back to a classic R&B sound from maybe the late 60s.  Almost reminds me of some old Smokey or other classic Motown.  Go buy it!!!  Maybe this track will help convince you…
