I’m about a month behind on this one.  (Had some technical issues with the bolg, and I’m just getting caught up).  Anyways… T Lopez:  I first met her when she was with Soluna, and I was on the street team at Hot 92.3 (Shout out to the Hot Squad, and thanks to Ronnie Jr for this nine year old picture!!)

Then… When I started working in television, for SiTV, and I edited this show called The Drop.  T Lopez ended up becoming one of the hosts:

Now I work on this show called LatiNation. When we were looking for a new host, T’s name came up, and of course she had my vote!

So pretty much, she’s like family now. Our careers have crossed paths several times close to the last decade.

OK… enough back story… The point of this is to tell you about her new record. She’s been signed with Cash Money Records for a little while, and I’m happy to finally see something coming out. Its a pop record, you can dance to it, her vocals are on point, and there’s a guest spot from Lil Wayne. That’s pretty much the certified radio stamp of approval right there. Download it!!! If you didn’t make it out last night to The Bridge, that’s too bad.  You definitely missed out.  Always a good vibe, and a cool crowd.  The DJs play whatever they want, and the crowd is with it.  Special guests Sleeper and Just Matter went all over the place with it, and pretty much blew minds with the 2×4 set.  I went on early right after Printz, and I was in a mid to late 90s mood.  I almost feel like I shouldn’t post this one up, and just add it to the “You Had To Be There” category, but.. if I post it up, maybe it’ll get you all to not sleep on this party and make it out next month.  As always… thanks to Hapa for putting me on this line up again.

Here’s the info for this years birthday party.

Officially… my last words of 2010 (actually for the whole decade) were “You’re supposed to eat em!!!”  I’ll let you all just put together in your mind what happened before that.  Officially, my last drive was from LAX to Cygnet’s place in Laguna Hills.  Officially, the last thing I ate was some crackers with cheese dip.  Officially, I can’t remember what the last thing I drank was…. and Officially… this is the last mix I did in 2010, and for the decade.  Side note.. 2011 = 20 years of DJing for me.  In 2009, I called my last mix the 2009 Finale… so I’m just going with it.  Here it is… nothing too much related to 2010.  I just woke up on the 31st, had an itch to get on the decks, and I just decided to hit record.  So here you go… free music.

… also known as the Ghost of Christmas Rehab…   Last Tuesday for Rehab Radio, DJ VER5E and myself were supposed to spin on out internet show Rehab Radio.  Due to construction going on in the studio where we broadcast the show, it was cancelled for the night.  I’m guessing we’ll both be on next week, but next week is after Christmas, and I was planning on doing a Christmas set.  I just threw a bunch of Christmas tracks into a crate and was gonna rock it live.  Since I didn’t get to do that… here it is recorded.  All in one take, so its as close to what it would have been.  So… being that its almost Christmas, I still have to finish some shopping.  Go ahead and download this… but I wouldn’t play it around the kids.

Bad Knews presents “Grandma Got Run Over by a DJ”

Here’s my set from Rehab Radio on Ustream earlier this week. I’m on for the first hour of the show, and DJ Robshot comes on right after. He did a dope set with some classis G-Funk. I did 3 short sets for the first hour. Each one themed. The first one is New Edition vs. New Kids on the Block, the second set is Wu-Tang vs The Alkaholiks, and the last one is Joe Bataan vs Sergio Mendes. For some reason the ustream feed started acting up mid set, and everything plays slightly slower then its supposed to sound. So… because of that, I ripped the audio and fixed it up a little bit. DJ SHAKEE LIVE ON REHAB RADIO (mp3)

Last Saturday was another edition of The Bridge, at Rehab.  Since it was DJ Hapa’s 30th birthday, we had a whole weekend of festivities goin on.  Instead of just DJing on the rooftop of Hotel Erwin, we actually stayed there.  Those are cool ass rooms!  Pictures soon.  Hapa set up a limo to go from the hotel to Rehab… and let’s just say… too many WOO GIRLS in a limo is NOT a good look.  Sorry you had to sit through that Cygnet.

Anyways… We got to the party and I dropped the opening set.  As I mentioned previously, it was a dope line up to be a part of.  I really wish I could remember more of the night, but the open vodka bar for the first two hours kicked my ass.  Good thing I recorded my set, and good thing the vodka didn’t hit me til the later part of my set.

I was in a Hiphop mood.  I haven’t been playing too much good Hiphop, so I took this as my chance to do that.  So if you’re lookin for some good Hiphop, or just wanna see what you missed out on… Click on the picture to download the mix!!
